Process Assessment
Transformation engagements are initiated with a formal assessment of the organization’s purpose, people, and processes. We gather information from stakeholders at all levels to critically evaluate the current state and then share objective and direct feedback with the executive leadership team. The assessment typically includes interviewing, data gathering and discussions concerning:

  • Future state vision and aspirations
  • Current state, specifically strengths and weaknesses in terms of processes, structure, resources and capabilities that either support or impede success
  • Opportunities from outside the group that may present new areas for growth and advancement
  • Changes in the external environment that may present challenges now or in the future

These insightful, though sometimes sensitive, discussions are essential for creating a solid foundation upon which to build the roadmap.

Transformation Roadmap™
The Transformation Roadmap™ is typically developed in two stages:

1. Establish transformation vision

Upon completion of the process assessment, TA will facilitate a Transformation Planning Session with the client group’s leadership team. The outcome of this phase of the transformation is a shared future-state vision of how the group will be structured, how it will function and how its performance and success will be measured. Focusing on the gaps identified in the assessment, the team will begin to identify key actions the business will take to fill the gaps.

2. Select projects and apply tools

The management team, with the help of TA, will define and scope projects from the key actions, selecting and prioritizing the ones that will have most significant impact on achieving transformation goals. Project leads will be identified, and high-level timelines will be established. A transformation project portfolio typically consists of a blend of long and short-term projects with varying degrees of complexity and potential ROI. Some projects may be focused on fine-tuning processes and aligning technology with business need, while other projects may be directed toward upgrading team members’ skills and capabilities. Some projects are best driven by internal teams, while others may require specialization from external sources. TA offers tools and support in three areas to support an organization’s transformation efforts:

  • Process consulting: TA consultants are comprised of process improvement experts, trained in the leading process improvement methods, including Six Sigma™ and Lean manufacturing. We also employ PhD level psychologists to deliver executive, individual contributor and team coaching.
  • Technology: TA offers exceptional process and project management software applications, including our preciseProcess™ Workflow management system and our newest tool, preciseTRACKER™ project tracking system.
  • Training: TA presents two pathways to help close gaps in employee capabilities. For managers and supervisory staff, we offer a suite of management skills training courses. Training for teams and individuals focuses on communication, decision-making, innovation and process improvement, now available in our web conference-based “micro-training” format for rapid deployment to remote teams.


Project Execution
Three factors drive the success of transformation efforts – applying a disciplined approach to project management, allocating appropriate resources to projects and using performance metrics to monitor progress and gauge success. We have found that the absence of any one of these factors will derail the most promising initiative. Unfortunately many organizations do not have the luxury of rolling out a project management framework or assigning an army of resources to drive the transformation. Likewise, the time and effort it takes to develop a performance metrics process may also be too much for the group to spare. We understand that, and because these aspects are woven into TA’s transformation methodology, they do not fall through the cracks. Our services and support extend through the execution of plans and implementation of changes, and end with a concrete validation of transformation success.
